Last week, the DCEU project Shazam! is said to be released in April 2019. (Not to be confused with the Marvel property Captain Marvel; a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie of the same name featuring Brie Larson will release a month prior to Shazam!)
Originally named Captain Marvel, he is the alter ego of Billy Batson, a boy who–by speaking the magic word “SHAZAM” (acronym of six “immortal elders”: Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury)–can transform himself into a costumed adult with the powers of superhuman strength, speed, flight, and other abilities. After Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was cast into the DC Extended Universe as Black Adam, fans have been wondering who will portray his rival. After quite some time, we finally have an answer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zachary Levi (Chuck, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Tangled) will be playing the titular hero. We have yet to see him in costume or side by side with The Rock.
